I had the same exact problem. You're right there is a lot of flex in that lever, perhaps too much which was part of my problem. My solution was simple, (although I pulled the hair out of my head for 2 weeks until I figured it out)just take the right rear wheel off and spray some WD 40 on the levers engagement mechanism. It is metal on metal so brand new with a flimsy lever was forcing mine to stick. You may be able to get to it without removing the wheel I can't remember. Good Luck

I do not have a trailer anymore unfortunately I sold that too. The new neighborhood has covenants that prevent keeping it there. I am starting to wonder why I moved. I have no idea what it costs to ship something this. If you can't beg, borrow, rent, or steal a trailer I can make some calls if you are serious.
